The UAB Archaeology and Palaeontology Campus complements the work of research and scientific development in the fields of archaeology, palaeontology and cultural heritage, as well as in management and dissemination of these sectors. The UAB research groups and centres, and bachelor's and master's degree programmes, generate a series of synergies with the region in which the university conducts research (archaeological and palaeontological sites) and academic teaching (work placements at bachelor's degree, master's degrees and PhD levels).
The creation of the Campus consolidates the relationship existing between the UAB and several of the surrounding town councils with the aim of recognising these sites and their infrastructures as UAB research and teaching areas, and thus establish a stable collaboration. This type of university campus widens and improves the collaboration between the university and the surrounding territory, and it becomes an invigorating element in municipal heritage, as well as a pole of knowledge transfer generated by archaeological research.
