The UAB to host a TEDx event for the first time

TEDx UAB

On 31 March, the UAB will be hosting the TEDxUABBarcelona event, a day in which different members of the university community will be speaking on issues related to “Innovative Minds”. The objective is to share the knowledge generated at the UAB considered to be transgressive and inspiring for the global community. The event can also be followed live on the UAB's Youtube channel.

TED is an international community dedicated to disseminating ideas on different issues, usually in the format of short, informative talks. According to this non-profit organisation, they are “building a clearinghouse of free knowledge from the world’s most inspired thinkers — and a community of curious souls to engage with ideas”. Following with this spirit of “engaging ideas”, the organisation encourages local entities and communities to organise their own TEDx events.

The TEDxUABBarcelona session will take place on 31 March from 3 to 6 p.m. at the UAB Auditorium (located at the Faculty of Arts & Humanities). It will also be streamed at the Journals Hall of the Humanities Library, with limited capacity, and is an event that is open to the entire university community: students and alumni, academics and researchers, and administrative and services staff. It can also be followed live on the UAB's Youtube channel.Speakers will be presenting an innovative idea or project, worth sharing with the global community for its transgressive or inspiring character.  At the end of the event, attendants can attend the post-event networking session, the TEDx Off.

For this first edition, a total of 9 speakers from the university community will participate. The presentations cover different areas of knowledge, and will focuse on technology, design, education, or the sciences. They previously received a course in communication skills and all the support and materials they needed from the UAB to prepare their talk.

The event is organised jointly by the UAB, the UAB Research Park, the UAB Open Labs, the UAB CORES and the UAB Alumni.
