Does your Final Degree Project promote social change?

Premis TFG transformació social 2022

The UAB is once again opening three calls for the Awards for Final Degree Projects (TFG) carried out by university students and which, due to their subject matter, promote social change.

15/06/2022

The UAB will award the TFGs of the 2021/22 academic year of university students which have focused on topics related to social change. There will be three calls: one for projects dealing with global justice, another for those with a gender perspective, and a third for those carried using the Service-Learning (ApS) methodology.

The calls are opened from 15 June to 30 September 2022, and the participation requirements are: to have presented the TFG during the 2021-2022 academic year at any of the degrees of the UAB; and to have a minimum mark of 8.5. They can be both individual and collective works.

Arcadi Oliveres Award for Final Degree Projects on Change for Global Justice

The 6th edition of the Final Degree Projects on Change for Global Justice, which this year has been renamed the Arcadi Oliveres Award, has been announced by the Fundació Autònoma Solidària. It is an initiative that, with the support of Barcelona City Council, is part of the UAB’s contribution to the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, and aims to promote interest in research on global justice. Some of the topics of this call are biodiversity, climate change, human rights, citizenship, culture of peace, social economy, cooperativism, interculturalism, the right to asylum, among others. The Arcadi Oliveres Awards will give €1000, distributed among the best final degree projects in each field of knowledge, which will receive €250 each.

Final Degree Projects with a Gender Perspective

The Observatory for Equality, in collaboration with the Catalan Women’s Institute (ICD), rewards those projects that apply gender perspective in the approach to the researched phenomenon. Gender perspective is understood as a critical approach to any phenomenon that reveals, makes visible, analyses or tackles gender and LGBTI inequalities, including the social and cultural institutions that sustain them. The award aims to raise awareness among students about gender equality and non-discrimination by promoting their interest on research. One project from each degree will be awarded, which will be published on the Observatory's website and the authors will receive a Diploma.

Final Degree Projects with an ApS Methodology

The third call is organised by the ApS (Service-Learning) Office that, managed by the Fundació Autònoma Solidària, will award the best TFG carried out using the ApS methodology. This educational proposal applied to the Final Degree Projects encourages them to address the needs and challenges of civil society, in collaboration with social and environmental organisations, or public centres and institutions, thus offering a real service to the community. This initiative is within the framework of the University’s social commitment to its environment.  Those interested must send a short video justifying "How has the fact of having carried out a TFG with ApS enriched my professional outlook" and "What social and/or environmental impact has my TFG had?”. The prize is also €1000, which will be distributed among the four best projects, one for each area of knowledge of the university.
