The olive tree that presided over the stand of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona at the Barcelona Education Fair last week now forms part of the Bellaterra campus. The tree, which symbolises the natural environment where the UAB is located, will now go from representing the campus at the fair to becoming a permanent part of it.

Olivera Saló Ensenyament

During the days of the Barcelona Education Fair the olive tree was one of the central elements of the UAB stand, evoking the green character of the campus. Approximately three quarters of the campus are open spaces and green areas with grass and trees, one of the distinctive features of the University.

Located in a valley between the Collserola and Galliners hills, the Bellaterra campus combines academic and research activity with a natural environment that is part of everyday university life. This landscape, with natural paths and open spaces, is also a regular setting for teaching, research and leisure activities for the university community.

With the planting of this olive tree, the UAB makes permanent the symbol it represented at the Education Fair: a campus integrated into its natural environment and committed to sustainability.
