The Humanities Library will take part in Festival 42, Barcelona’s Festival of Fantastic Genres, with a discussion entitled 'Carrie' (the film) at 50. Perspectives on Stephen King and his influence.

The event will take place on Sunday 8 November, from 10 to 11 am, in Room 2 at Fabra i Coats. It will be chaired by Lluc Casals, moderator of the Humanities Library’s virtual book club, 'Òrbita Lectora'. The panellists will be writer Ricard Ruiz Garzón, Sara Martín Alegre, a scholar of English literature, and writer and translator Edgar Cotes.

The discussion will explore Stephen King’s influence on fantasy literature and cinema, as well as the enduring relevance of his work fifty years after Carrie was released.

This collaboration is part of the Humanities Library’s wider commitment to promoting literature and encouraging reading. Among its initiatives is 'Òrbita Lectora', a virtual book club devoted to science fiction and fantasy, which brings readers together to share their thoughts and discuss works from these genres.

The Library is also home to the Xavier Úcar Science Fiction collection, which helps bring greater visibility to a literary genre with a long tradition and a rich potential for exploring social, scientific and cultural issues.

Through its participation in Festival 42, the Library connects its work with cultural initiatives across the city, while highlighting the resources and reading opportunities available through UAB Libraries.
