There are different categories of external users who can access certain services offered by the UAB Libraries.
Additionally, access to the UAB Libraries is free for all visitors during regular opening hours. For detailed information about the opening hours of each library, please visit the webpage: Opening hours of the Libraries.

External users
As a graduate of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), you can continue to enjoy various services offered by the UAB Libraries. To access these services, prior registration is required.
How to apply for this benefit?
- Complete the Alumni form available for service requests.
- Within 48-72 working hours, you will receive an accreditation document identifying you as a UAB Alumni.
- Present this document at the UAB Library desks, where you will be issued an Alumni card. Remember to bring a passport-sized photograph.
Services available for Alumni:
- Borrowing: Detailed information about borrowing services is available on the Alumni-UAB Libraries webpage.
- Access to electronic resources: Alumni can consult electronic resources subscribed to by the UAB Library Service using the free-access computers available at the different libraries. Access is granted as a guest.
- Space reservation: As an Alumni, you can book spaces at UAB Libraries. For more information, visit the UAB Libraries Space Reservation page.
- 24-hour Study Room:
- The UAB Study Room is located on levels -2 and -3 of the Social Sciences Library.
- This room is open 24 hours a day, except during special restricted schedules.
- Outside the Social Sciences Library’s regular opening hours (8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.), including holidays and weekends, the study room remains open.
- To access it during nights, holidays, weekends, and restricted schedules, you must present your UAB Alumni card.
With the Friends of the UAB membership card, you can access UAB library services. Here’s how to become a member:

Services available for Amics de la UAB members:

Loan: You can borrow up to 10 items for a period of 7, 14, or 28 days, depending on the type of document. For more information, visit the UAB Loan Service page.

Access to electronic resources: You can access electronic resources subscribed to by the UAB Library Service. These resources are available through the free-access computers located in the various libraries, with guest access.

Space reservation: As a member of Amics de la UAB, you can reserve spaces at UAB Libraries. For more information, visit the UAB Libraries Space Reservation page.

24-hour Study Room:
- The UAB Study Room is located on levels -2 and -3 of the Social Sciences Library and is open 24 hours a day, except during special restricted schedules.
- Outside the regular opening hours of the Social Sciences Library (8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.), as well as on public holidays and weekends, these spaces serve as study rooms.
- To access the study room during nights, public holidays, weekends, and restricted schedules, you must present your Amics de la UAB membership card.
If, after retiring, you wish to retain access to the various services, please contact the relevant department:

- Academic and Research Staff (PDI): Academic Staff Unit

Retired Support Staff (PTGAS) can borrow up to 10 documents for 7/14/28 days (depending on the document). Retired Academic and Research Staff (PDI) can borrow up to 40 documents during an academic year.

The Argó Programme, organised by the Institute of Education Sciences (ICE) at the UAB, is a secondary-to-university transition initiative. It aims to share knowledge with secondary school students and teachers in educational institutions.
Services available:
- Loan Service: You can borrow up to 8 documents for 7, 14, or 21 days (depending on the document). For more information: Loan of UAB documents.
- Access to Electronic Resources: You can access the electronic resources subscribed to by the UAB Library Service from the free-access computers available in the different libraries, logging in as guests.
