Photography Exhibition "They Will No Longer Have the Comfort of Our Silence"
M. Ángeles Benítez photographs the slogans from the March 8 feminist demonstrations in this exhibition at the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives.
From March 2 to April 30, the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives hosts the exhibition “They Will No Longer Have the Comfort of Our Silence: Slogans of March 8: the strength of a collective struggle”, by M. Ángeles Benítez, lent by AFOCER (Agrupació Foto-Cine Cerdanyola-Ripollet).
From the presentation text:
The slogans that accompany the March 8 demonstrations are the guiding thread of this photographic series by M. Ángeles Benítez: a perspective that highlights the breadth and vitality of the feminist movement.
The 8-M demonstrations have become the most visible and well-attended expression of feminism in recent years. They are days of protest and, at the same time, celebration: events that radically question what our society is and what it should be. On the placards we find direct, ironic, forceful, and deeply moving messages that invite reflection and speak out from a fundamental right: the right not to be afraid.
The images capture this shared spirit of sisterhood and diversity, bringing together people of all ages, social backgrounds, and sexual identities who collectively make visible the movement’s transformative power.
With this exhibition, the author seeks to bring feminism closer to those who may still view it from a distance. Her aim is to spark a moment of reflection on the urgent need to build a freer, fairer, and more equal society —beyond March 8.
