The Social Sciences Library hosts the exhibition 'Dones a Ravensbrück' from April 29 to June 27, 2025

Exhibition Dones a Ravensbrück

In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II (May 8, 1945) and the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps, the Social Sciences Library presents the exhibition 'Dones a Ravensbrück', which can be visited in the lobby of floor 0 from April 29 to June 27.

Ravensbrück, located 90 km from Berlin, is the largest camp in the Nazi concentration system created exclusively to imprison women. The exhibition tells us about the terrible history of the camp, but is above all a tribute to the Catalan and Spanish deportees who suffered the hellish conditions there. We can see the life trajectory of some of these women, who were mostly arrested for having participated in the French resistance and who were an example of struggle and courage in defending the values ¿¿of freedom, peace and justice

The design and content of the panels of the in-person exhibition have been prepared by the Amical de Ravensbrück. In addition, the Social Sciences Library has prepared a bibliographical exhibition that can be seen in the display cases at the entrance to the library on floor 0 and also a virtual exhibition that includes the contents prepared by the Amical de Ravensbrück, adding a historical introduction and a bibliographical selection on the subject.

In connection with the exhibition, the Social Sciences Library and the European Documentation Centre, with the support of the Institute for European Studies, the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence EUGLOB and the Centre for Studies on Dictatorships and Democracies, has organised a free conference: "De Ravensbrück a París. Del final de la II Guerra Mundial a la Declaració Schuman", which will take place on 15 May in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law of the UAB.
