...Més enllà del coneixement tècnic que s’hi adquireix, el doctorat et proporciona eines que et serviran tota la vida: la capacitat d’afrontar reptes, l’autonomia en la resolució de problemes i una gran autoexigència...

Why did you decide to do a PhD project in our Department?
When I started my veterinary degree, I didn't have a clear idea of what career path I wanted to follow. I decided to approach it with an open mind and explore the different options available to me. Over time, I discovered that the world of animal production was the one that appealed to me most, both because of my personal interest and the professional opportunities it offered.
In addition, I had always been interested in research, and when Professor Francisco Pérez offered me a collaboration grant during my fifth year, I did not hesitate to accept it. This experience allowed me to get involved in the department, participate in research projects and learn first-hand how it worked, as well as complete my final degree project.
I realised that doing a PhD at SNiBA would give me the opportunity to collaborate directly with the industry and access many job opportunities that require a high technical level. This was key to my decision to embark on this stage of my career.
What are your future career goals?
I currently work as a research and swine nutrition technician at Qualivet, a company specialising in nutritional solutions for animal production. My goal is to continue working to improve the technical level of the swine sector and actively contribute to the technological transformation that will take place in the coming years. I aspire to help make the swine sector more efficient, sustainable and responsible by contributing knowledge and innovation.
What advice would you give to prospective students?
A PhD is not simply a continuation of a veterinary degree; it is an option for non-conformists with a scientific vocation. Beyond the technical knowledge you acquire, a PhD provides you with tools that will serve you throughout your life: the ability to face challenges, autonomy in problem solving and high self-expectations.
During this stage, support and collaboration with colleagues are essential, especially when the most difficult moments arise. There is no room for selfishness or self-sufficiency, as teamwork is key. In fact, one of the most enriching aspects of a PhD is the bond that is created with colleagues, a connection that often continues beyond the academic stage.
