Carlos Marqués-Marcet visits the UAB Cinema Room

On Tuesday, April 17th at 10 am, the film Tierra Firme (Anchor and Hope, 2017) will be projected. The film, directed by Carlos Marqués-Marcet, features actors Oona Chaplin, Natalia Tena and David Verdaguer. After the projection there will be a conversation with the director and teachers of the Faculty of Communication Sciences Elisabet Cabeza and Ludovico Longhi.
 
The film is about Eva, 38, who fears that her biological clock is about to stop forever. However, his girlfriend Kat does not want a child, because she believes that it would alter the life they have on a ship in the London canals. The situation changes when Roger arrives from Barcelona. Where before she saw her partner's best friend, Eva will see a potential donor. Kat is surprised to learn that he is attracted to the idea of ​​being a father, and will soon see that she must accept Eva's wish for fear that the relationship will break down. The film has been part of the Official Section of the Seville Festival, received the nomination for Best Comedy at the Feroz Awards and won the Gaudí Awards for Best Comedy in Non-Catalan Language and Best Actor for David Verdaguer.

Carlos Marqués-Marcet (Barcelona 1983) is director and editor. He is especially known for The Yellow Ribbon (2012) and 10,000 km (2014), where he worked with David Verdaguer and Natalia Tena. Natalia was nominated for the European Film Awards as European Discovery - Best First Feature. He also received three nominations for the Goya Awards, and won as Best New Director. At the Malaga Festival he received 5 awards, including Best Film, Director and Actress. At the SXSW festival in Austin, she received the Best Actor and Best Actress awards and in the Platinum she was nominated for Best First Feature. Finally, he won 5 Gaudí Awards, including Best Film in Non-Catalan Language.
 
Marqués-Marcet studied Audiovisual Communication at the UPF and a Master of Fine Arts in Audiovisual Direction at the School of Film and Television at UCLA, thanks to a grant from the la Caixa Foundation.
 
Among the prizes he has won during his career is the INJUVE National Arts Award, the DGA Student Awart of the Association of Directors of the United States, and the John Frankenheimer Prize. He is a founding member of the Spanish production company established in Los Angeles La Panda Productions.

Free admission limited to the capacity of the room.
The ticket window opens half an hour before the start of each show.
On Thursday, the ticket window opens at 12 pm.
