The research group Sostenipra has organised a blind tomato tasting and satisfaction survey.

Tasting and survey: "Consumer's preferences, taste the difference: a journey into tomato varieties and fertilizations"

Organised by Sostenipra research group

Date: Monday, June 26th 2023
Time: 13.15h
Venue: Atrium- Ground floor ICTA-UAB

The survey aims to explore and compare the characteristics of two tomato varieties that have been grown using different fertilization methods.

For half of the plants, a complete mineral fertilization approach has been applied. This involves providing the necessary nutrients through traditional mineral fertilizers via fertigation using drip irrigation.

The other half of the plants have received a slightly different fertilization treatment. In this case, some of the nutrients have been substituted with a compound called struvite (MgNH₄PO₄·6H₂O). Struvite is derived from sources such as wastewater streams and animal manure and offers a sustainable alternative for agricultural applications.

By conducting this survey, we aim to gain insights into the taste, texture, and overall sensory experience of these tomato varieties grown using different fertilization methods. Your valuable feedback will contribute to our understanding of the potential impacts of alternative fertilizers on tomato quality and provide valuable information for sustainable agricultural practices.
