Opening of the 2025-26 Academic Year at the Faculty of Economics and Business
On Tuesday, October 14th, the Faculty of Economics and Business held the opening ceremony of the 2025-26 academic year in the Faculty’s Auditorium, with the presence of the Honorable Rector of the UAB, Dr. Javier Lafuente, as well as members of the Dean’s Office, faculty, students, and administrative and service staff.

The event began with an institutional welcome and included a recognition of the faculty members who achieved the best results in the 2024-25 teaching evaluation surveys, as well as the Alumni with the most outstanding academic records upon completing their degrees at the Faculty. This moment served to highlight the teaching and academic excellence that characterizes the institution.
The inaugural lecture was delivered by Elena Flores, former Deputy Director-General for Investment and International Affairs at the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission. Under the title “The Evolution of Global Economy and Governance over the Last Three Decades,” Flores provided a detailed analysis of the main economic and institutional changes worldwide, offering a privileged perspective grounded in her experience within the European institutions.
The event was also streamed live to the Sabadell Campus, where it was broadcast in classrooms 22 and 24, thus enabling participation from the entire university community.
With this event, the Faculty of Economics and Business officially kicks off a new academic year full of challenges and opportunities, reaffirming its commitment to teaching quality, research, and engagement with the economic and social context.
