Official Master's Degree in Translation and Intercultural Studies
IntroductionA 40-hour Catalan language course will be offered at no cost by the Facultat de Traducció i d'Interpretació starting on the 17th September until the 1st October (10.00 to 14.00 h from Monday to Friday). MA students are invited to show their interest by writing to the master's coordinator.
The objective of the master's degree in Translation and Intercultural Studies is to train professionals, academics and researchers interested in continuing onto a professional or research career in the fields of Translation, Translatology, Language Mediation and Intercultural Studies.
The Translation and Intercultural Studies master's degree offers the following two specialisations:
- Translation and Intercultural Mediation (professional)
- Translatology and Intercultural Studies (research)
Career optionsThe master's degree in Translation and Intercultural Studies periodically contacts its former students with the aim of learning about the percentage of students currently working, and those working at university or in research activities. The result of the surveys point to a majority of graduates working within the translation sector, with specific profiles such as the following:
- Freelance translator
- In-house translator
- Project manager
- Language technician
The research specialisation "Translatology and Intercultural Studies" prepares students to continue onto a PhD programme. The specialisation counts with the extensive experience of the Department of Translation and Interpreting and East Asian Studies in training future researchers in translation and interpreting, and with the department's current research lines and groups: http://pagines.uab.cat/doctorat-traduccio/en
Moreover, a high percentage of former students from the research specialisation have gone on to enrol in PhD programmes in different universities around the world.
Campus virtual and other areas
The Master's Degree in Translation and Intercultural Studies has been granted free access to the Memsource Academic Edition, an academic program designed for universities with translation courses.
