The Master’s Degree in Art and Design Research (MURAD) aims to offer the necessary competences for carrying out research into art and design, both from a theoretical-conceptual angle and through the process of art practice.
MURAD provides an experimental space for study, work and exchange in which students can carry out research with the support of the content and exercises associated with the course subjects and tutoring by teaching staff. The topic areas are open to any creative context and comprise the areas of visual creation, project culture and aesthetics to art and design research.
From the beginning of the course work begins on the Master’s degree dissertation with a programme of individual and group tutoring. This project may be exclusively theory-based or can combine artistic and design theory and practice.
MURAD offers the chance to continue studying in the same line with the PhD in Art and Design Research, a pathway option within the PhD programme of the Department of Philosophy of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Career optionsThe Master of Research in Art and Design is directed primarily to the practice of teaching and research, giving access to doctorate studies, especially in the fields of art and design. However, the theoretical-practical approach also allows for the application of the acquired knowledge on artistic practices and professional designers activity.
