BiciUAB – Encouraging the use of bicycle

23/11/2018

15th of November ended the fifth challenge “Move for UAB”. During this month have been 482 registered people, 244 of them actives.

All together, have done
8.249 km, which implies a saving around 1,5 tone of CO2, with regard to displacements by car. In addition, other savings to society like space on the roads and parking, noise, risk of accidents, etc. Personal saving in fuel or maintenance, among others. In addition, health!

The challenge consisted in doing, at least, 30 km during one month, in displacements to or from UAB Bellaterra Campus, by some following means of transport: on food, by bike, by collective public transport or sharing car. 40 of active people have reached this challenge. Some of them, with difference! Reaching totals of 520 km, Main points of origin have been Cerdanyola, Barberà and Sant Cugat.

The main of this challenge was to encourage displacements by these mains of transport among the university community and to reward those people who move sustainability. Unfortunately, we cannot reward all people. For this reason, and to distribute chance of winning, we proposed a drawing for the prize between all participant people who reached the challenge.

The winner of this fourth challenge is
Jordi López Olvera. Once the prize is chosen, among available prizes in the catalogue, the winner could contact with us to organize delivery.

Challenges “Move for UAB” form part of three first specific strategic lines of
UAB Mobility Plan 2018-24 related to promote active means of transport (on food and by bike), the collective public transport and usage rationalizing of private vehicle.

While, we encourage continuing using these sustainable means of transport for the benefits, which you know, and to accumulate cycles.

You can communicate us some ideas and suggestions to improve challenges; transport infrastructures and services, in general, sending an email to
