On Saint George’s day, books at Vall d’Hebron

On the occasion of Saint George’s day, volunteers from the FAS public health program
prepared approximately 1000 books to give as a gift to the patients of Vall d’Hebron hospital of Barcelona.

On the occasion of the celebration of Saint George’s day on 23 April, the FAS public health program prepared approximately 1000 books to give as a gift to all the patients of Vall d’Hebron hospital of Barcelona. 7 volunteers were in charge of organizing everything so as each patient in the hospital could receive a book.

Regarding the preparation, on 21 April the volunteers selected the books for the children hospitalized in the Maternity Pediatric building according to their age. The day after, the books were wrapped for the General and Traumatology building. finally, on 23 April, the books were handed out among the health workers of each floor.

Regarding the origin of the books, some have been donated by the Generalitat Library Service, whereas the books for children have been donated by both entities or particular people.

The public health program of the Fundació Autònoma Solidària aims to offer accompaniment that contributes to improving the quality of life of patients in hospital or healthcare centres, as well as their families' and carers' environment. In this situation of alarm due to covid-19 a new program has been created to give support to this Hospital.
