The volunteering team, interns and technical team of FAS gather twice a year in Nostrum, a training event held outside the UAB campus. Taking part in this training allows members to share, get to know each other and build bonds with other team members; to get to discover what FAS is beyond each programme and also to be part of a space for reflection and useful training for volunteering as well as for growing social commitment.

Last 1 December a new edition of Nostrum was held in Associació de Mestres Rosa Sensat.
The event started with a set of welcoming and learning-focused activities to then continue on with the main part of the event: three training workshops focused on gender, interculturalism and group dynamics:

  1. Re-gen(d)er-ating our lives. With Christopher Casas from the organization Projecte Ella. This workshop used a brief history of feminism and some activities to analyze our daily routine from a gender perspective in order to make us observe ourselves with a critical point of view and to deconstruct our attitudes and decisions as well as to get to see how the gender imperatives we have been internalizing for years affect us.
  2. Power and privilege roles workshop. An intersectional point of view. With Griselda Lloret from the organization La Xixa teatro. An experience-based, dynamic and participatory workshop where the Theatre of the Oppressed methodology is used to reflect on how to detect and face violence situations when it comes to social exclusion.
  3. Working together: dynamics for groups. With Patricia Garcia from the organization Almalj Facilitacion. This workshop taught us different participatory dynamics for groups with useful, experience-based activities. We also got to explore how to encourage involvement in our groups and some key guidance to communicate better with those we work with to improve participation.
Once workshops were over, we took a group picture, this year linked to World AIDS Day. Later on we had a collaborative lunch with prizes for the best dishes according to their different categories: omelettes, homemade pizzas or pies and desserts. Lastly, we put an end to the event with an activity in which we all made a mural that allowed us to draw conclusions from the workshops.
