The Library of Science and Technology presents a historical exhibition of promotional posters from the ExpoNaturaUAB photography competition, made possible thanks to a donation from Fernando García del Pino, former professor in the Zoology area at the UAB. The exhibition can be visited until 4 December.

Since 1986, the ExpoNaturaUAB photography competition has encouraged members of the university community to observe nature with attention, curiosity and a spirit of discovery.

Organised by the Department of Animal Biology, Plant Biology and Ecology (BABVE) of the Faculty of Biosciences, with the support of the UAB and Cultura en Viu, the competition has become a meeting point for photography, science communication and the observation of the natural world.

The posters featured in this exhibition trace the history of the fifteen editions held to date.

The first four editions, from 1986 to 1989, took the form of a photographic exhibition and a community-building initiative within the former Faculty of Sciences. After a long hiatus, ExpoNaturaUAB returned in 2016 as a photography competition dedicated to biodiversity and the natural environment.

Beyond their original role as promotional materials, these posters offer a unique record of the evolution of visual culture, environmental awareness and the ways in which the university community has portrayed nature over the past four decades.

The exhibition invites visitors to explore not only the history of a competition, but also changing perspectives on the natural world through the lens of photography. Each poster reflects its time, revealing how photography has served as both a creative and an educational tool for engaging with nature.

We hope you enjoy this journey through the natural history of ExpoNaturaUAB.
