The UAB Humanities Library Hosts Three Events Dedicated to Art and Literature
Throughout October, the Humanities Library offers three cultural initiatives introducing the public to the work of Gloria Anzaldúa, the Dada movement and the literary career of Folch i Camarasa.
This October, the library is hosting several cultural activities that invite visitors to discover and explore different forms of artistic and literary expression. The programme includes an art exhibition dedicated to Chicana philosopher and writer Gloria Anzaldúa, a bibliographic exhibition on the Dada movement, and a book display devoted to the literary career of Ramon Folch i Camarasa, marking the centenary of his birth. The display complements the symposium Bon dia, Folch i Camarasa (IEC, 30 October 2026).
One of the highlights is the exhibition dedicated to the paintings of Gloria Anzaldúa (1942–2004), one of the most influential voices in contemporary feminist, queer and decolonial thought. The exhibition offers an opportunity to discover a little-known dimension of her intellectual career: her visual art. Through her works, visitors can gain a fresh perspective on her creative universe and explore some of the central themes of her thought, including identity, borders, mestizaje and the creation of new spaces of belonging.
The programme also includes a bibliographic exhibition commemorating the 110th anniversary of the Dada movement and the 130th anniversary of the birth of its founder, Tristan Tzara. Organised by the UAB Romanian Language Lectureship, the exhibition offers an overview of this avant-garde artistic and literary movement, which challenged established conventions and transformed traditional forms of artistic expression.
