New UAB Libraries Search

The UAB Libraries start the 2026–2027 academic year with an updated version of their Search Engine, designed to improve the information search and discovery experience and optimise access to academic and scientific resources. 

The new interface offers more streamlined navigation, a clearer presentation of results, and a redesigned personal area where you can easily manage loans, renewals and reservations, save searches and records, and view your search history. It also improves access to digital collections and incorporates new features that make it quicker and more accurate to find and access resources. 

Some of the key new features include: 

• Reorganisation of search filters, with the most frequently used filters always visible
• Clearer display of results and records
• Simplified document request processes
• Direct integration of the digital content viewer
• Integration of e-books on trial into the search portal 

In addition, the new Library Search includes Easy Search, an assistant that transforms natural-language queries into the most effective search combinations. 

A beta version of an AI-powered search assistant has also been introduced. It allows users to ask questions in natural language and generates an informative summary based on the most relevant academic documents from the library’s extensive index of digital resources, with direct references to the sources consulted. 

The interface meets all accessibility standards, features a 100% responsive web design, and is available in Catalan, Spanish and English. 

With this renewal, we are strengthening our commitment to providing services tailored to the needs of the university community and prepared to meet the new challenges of learning, teaching and research.
