Birds speak to us in Birdwatching: photography exhibition at the Veterinary Library
From 5 November to 19 January, the UAB Veterinary Library hosts a photography exhibition that invites us to look at nature from a new perspective: about thirty bird photographs captured through the practice of birdwatching, an activity that merges a passion for nature with scientific research.
The author of the images is Jordi Bartolomé Filella, senior lecturer in the Department of Animal and Food Science at UAB, biologist and nature photographer. His expert and sensitive vision shows us how birds are one of the clearest expressions of the fact that “art is very much present in nature”. The photographs on display capture birds of all kinds, with colourful plumage, diverse textures and fascinating forms, always in their natural habitat.
This exhibition is much more than a collection of beautiful images: it is a gateway to the world of ornithology, a scientific discipline that studies birds and which, thanks to photography, has become accessible and inspiring for everyone. As Bartolomé explains, bird photography contributes to the collection of data on migrations, population trends and changes in ecosystems, being key to the conservation of threatened species.
The exhibition was already presented with great success at the UAB Sala Teatro Exhibition Space last semester, and now arrives at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with the aim of bringing this visual and scientific experience closer to the entire university community.
We encourage you to visit it, to be captivated by the beauty of birds and to discover how photography can be a tool for knowledge, conservation and admiration of the natural world.
