In 2025, the centenary of the birth of Andrea Camilleri (Porto Empedocle, 1925 – Rome, 2019) is being commemorated. Camilleri was a writer who achieved great popularity and was recognized during his lifetime as a literary classic.

Author of the famous Inspector Salvo Montalbano, the protagonist of a saga of more than thirty volumes successfully adapted for television, Camilleri is one of the most beloved voices in contemporary Italian literature. In addition to being a writer, he was a screenwriter, playwright, and professor, and his civic and moral commitment made him a key public figure who stood for justice and dignity in the face of power.

David Paradela and Miquel Edo, professors from the Department of Translation and Interpretation, have coordinated the bibliographic exhibition that can be visited throughout November at the library.

An online version is also available.

Meanwhile, the exhibition “Return to Liangshan” has been inaugurated, featuring photographs by Buhamo Budi, a PhD student at the UAB who in 2013 traveled to his birthplace to reconnect with the Nuosu people and their traditions. The exhibition mainly brings together portraits that offer an intimate look at the people of this region of China, highlighting their diversity and cultural richness.

Curated by Roberto Figliulo and Irene Masdeu Torruella of the InterAsia Research Group, and supported by the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation and the Humanities Library, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on identity and memory through a personal and sensitive lens.
