From 16 to 31 October, theSocial Sciences Library is running an extraordinary campaign featuring biographies, memoirs, and studies of political and social figures who have helped shape our understanding of the past and present.
In the lobby of the Social Sciences Library, you can embark on a journey through history guided by influential figures who have shaped ideas, governments, and institutions. The display brings together biographies, memoirs, and studies that allow readers to interpret political and social change from a variety of perspectives.
Discover the life stories that defined entire eras: from the transformative thought of Karl Marx to the conservative and liberal governments of Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair in the United Kingdom; from Willy Brandt’s efforts towards European reconciliation in Germany to the voices and decisions that shaped 20th-century Catalonia and Spain, such as Lluís Companys, Francesc Cambó, and Manuel Azaña.
This unique selection of books comes from the donation of Professor Oriol Casanovas La Rosa, former Chair of Public and Private International Law at the UAB (1975-1982). It is a wonderful opportunity to explore political history through high-quality materials — at a symbolic price. By choosing your books, you help give them a second life.
Come and discover the collection — and take home the one that interests you most, for only €1!
