Martí Mitjà Collection

Martí Mitjà was born in 1913 in Palafrugell and died in 2012 in Cardedeu.

He developed his career at Caixa de Pensions, where he began working in 1930. Throughout his career he held different positions and responsibilities, such as head of a local branch, inspector, and coordinator of literary competitions.

Collection description: The collection consists of part of his personal and professional documentation, especially including:

Personal documentation of Martí Mitjà: salary records, taxes, invoices, receipts, notes on household expenses, travel information, home renovations, housing, children’s education, mechanics, mathematics, religious prints, devotional songs to the Virgin Mary, Christmas cards (some illustrated and dedicated by Manuel Bertran i Oriola), and other personal interests.

Professional documentation related to his work at Caixa de Pensions:

  • Correspondence between Martí Mitjà and other people associated with the Caixa de Pensions per a la Vellesa i d'Estalvis, including personal letters, transfer notices, congratulations, greetings, etc.
  • Internal documentation from Caixa de Pensions: circulars, regulations, statutes, notes for civil service examinations within the institution, promotional material, etc.
  • Press dossier of the Caixa de Pensions per a la Vellesa i d'Estalvis (1934-1954). Most of the articles concern tributes to the elderly. It also includes brochures and posters about the tribute events organized by the institution.
  • Photographs and brochures of tuberculosis sanatoriums linked to Caixa de Pensions.
  • Documents from the Caixa de Pensions Staff Association: consumer cooperative activities, commercial benefits, literary competitions, and other activities organized for employees.
  • Internal documentation from other savings or social welfare institutions, such as the Instituto Nacional de Previsión and the Confederación Española de las Cajas de Ahorros Benéficas.
