Lluís Capdevila Collection

Lluís Capdevila i Vilallonga (1895-1980) was a Catalan writer, journalist, and translator, renowned for his contributions to publications such as Joventut teatral, De tots colors, Los miserables, L’esquella de la torratxa, La campana de Gràcia, and La humanitat. A member of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya, he fought on the front lines from 1936 until going into exile in France in 1939. During World War II, he actively collaborated with the Resistance while in France. In 1950, he began teaching Spanish literature at the University of Poitiers, where he founded the Aula de literatura i filologia catalanes in 1970.

In 2014, Carles Capdevila Mur donated his manuscripts to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where they were placed in the Humanities Library. Later, in 2023, the writer's nephew, Enric Capdevila Palau, provided additional documentation.

Collection description: The collection includes part of his personal documentation and primarily consists of manuscripts and typescripts of his own works, including plays, articles, and translations.
