This week, from March 10th to 16th, marks Brain Awareness Week, a global initiative aimed at sharing knowledge about this fascinating organ and the ongoing research to unravel its mysteries.

To commemorate February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, our Institute lanched several initiatives to give visibility to women scientists and inspire young girls to pursue scientific careers.

"My thesis focused on the PI3K/PDK1/Akt signaling pathway, which is hyperactivated in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients".

On Friday, September 27th, the European Researchers' Night was celebrated across Europe, and researchers from the Human Laboratory and the Neuroplasticity and Regeneration Research Group participated in the event

"In this thesis, we focused on a promising molecule: Klotho, as it can simultaneously counteract several ALS alterations".

Once again, the labs coordinated by Drs. Raül Andero and Lydia Giménez-Llort received an international group of high-school students participating in the BIYSC program, organized by the La Pedrera Foundation.

Last May 21, we received 42 students from different schools from El Vallès, who participated in the CROMA program, organized by the FAS.

The Brain Awareness Week is a global initiative to which the Institute joins every year to give visibility to the research that is done on this organ and the nervous system in general.

Dr. Paula Escudero did a postdoc at the laboratory coordinated by Dr. Jose Manuel López Blanco, with whom she has recently published an article on how the cell culture medium conditions influence the study of Lesch-Nyhan's neurological disease.

February the 11th is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and to celebrate it we're running activities in schools and high-schools.
