The seventh seminar of the Research Group in Geography and Gender for this academic year will take place next Friday, 12th June.

Piecing together: telling, narrating, resisting. Space, emotions and everyday resistances from feminist research

By Macarena Trujillo Cristoffanini, PhD in Sociology and a lecturer in the Department of Gender, Politics and Culture at the Universidad de Playa Ancha (Chile).

The seminar will address gender-based violence from a feminist and interdisciplinary perspective, focusing on the relationships between space, body and emotions. Drawing on research conducted in Chile, the seminar will present visual and participatory methodologies—such as cartographies of femicide and memory, participatory photography, and collective body mapping—to analyse experiences of violence, memory, and resistance. The proposal to “stitch together” articulates situated narratives, images and experiences to explore these violences from their spatial and emotional dimensions, and has also resulted in an exhibition that combines art and research.

The activity is linked to the Doctoral Programme in Geography and the Doctoral Programme in Gender Studies: Cultures, Societies and Policies.
