On Friday, January 23, the second seminar of the Research Group in Geography and Gender for the 2025–2026 academic year will take place.

“Care in Times of Pandemic. Methodological Reflections”

The seminar will be delivered by Dolors Comas d'Argemir, Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Philosophy, and Social Work at Rovira i Virgili University.

The session will present research on the gendered impact of the pandemic on caregivers of older and dependent people (within families, care homes, local care services, domestic and care work, and community initiatives). The methodological challenges were significant: how can ethnography be conducted without face-to-face contact? How can often contrasting or even antagonistic accounts of events be analysed? How can the value of caring for older people be recognised? What policies are needed to guarantee the right to care? Why is a feminist perspective essential when addressing these issues?

The activity is linked to the Doctoral Programme in Geography and the Doctoral Programme in Gender Studies: Cultures, Societies, and Policies.
