From 3 to 5 June, the Faculty of Communication Sciences brought together more than seventy-five researchers, academics, and professionals from different countries at Palau Macaya for the 20th International Public Relations Research Conference (AIRP 2026), held under the theme “Rebels with a Cause. Public Relations as an Agent of Change”.

For years, the Faculty has successfully participated in this activity, which this year will reach its most important moment during Talent Week, organized by the Audiovisual Cluster of Catalonia from November 23 to 27, 2026, at The Hub (Barcelona). Selected projects will have the opportunity to receive specialized training, present themselves before a group of production company representatives, and participate in various industry activities.

The 10th International Communication Research Conference of the Spanish Association for Communication Research (AE-IC), held on 19 May in Pontevedra, paid tribute to Dr Rosa Franquet Calvet, a leading figure in audiovisual communication and the first woman in Spain to attain a full professorship in this field

The ranking of the top Spanish campuses carried out annually by the Fundación Conocimiento y Desarrollo (CYD), which this year reaches its 13th edition, places the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) as the two top public universities in Spain.

The Faculty of Communication Sciences mourns the passing of Lorenzo Vilches, emeritus professor and international reference in the field of audiovisual communication studies. His academic and research career, shaped by the analysis of television, semiotics, and digital narratives, leaves a profound mark on generations of students and communication professionals.

Raúl Pernias Viñas and Marc Usón Brugal, currently at Ogilvy Spain, have won the Young Lions Print national competition with an outdoor advertising campaign promoted by JCDecaux and SCOPEN.

The jury of the XXV Premis Connexió, organised by the Catalan Federation of Telecommunications Companies (FECEMINTE), has awarded the UAB’s Arxiu Sonor de Ràdio a Catalunya project in the category of Institutional Initiative. The award, presented on 19 May, acknowledges the creation of an innovative project with social impact that preserves and disseminates the radiophonic heritage of Catalonia through the cataloguing of audio fragments, openly available to users.

The exhibition, promoted by the Equality and Diversity Service, revisits the history of the LGBTIQ+ movement and highlights both the progress achieved and the challenges that remain.
