Interactive chemistry

Química Interactiva

The interactive chemistry sessions are aimed at high school students and organised by the ICE within the framework of the ARGO programme. They take place in the laboratories of the Faculty of Science during the months of January and February, in the morning, from 9:15 am to 1:30 pm. Each session is open to a maximum of 60 students.

Structure of the activity

The activity of Interactive Chemistry will begin at 9:15 am with a brief 15-minute visit to the permanent exhibition "Chemistry in our everyday life", and then it will go to the computer room, where there will be a brief informative introduction (15 min) in which the importance of chemistry in everyday life will be shown and the basic aspects of safety in the laboratory and waste treatment will be introduced. Then, a virtual chemistry practice will be carried out in the computer room, where the water behavior will be simulated (45 min). After a short stop for breakfast (30 min), a series of practices will be carried out in the laboratories of the Department of Chemistry in groups of 15 students, supervised by one teacher (2.5 h).

It has opted for an eminently practical and interactive approach with activities that take its title: Environmental Detectives, The Detective Corner, Polymeric Materials, Metals with Shape Memory or The Frieze Corner.

Target group

Baccalaureate students taking chemistry subjects, preferably in the second year.
