A declaration of activities must be submitted to the IBC irrespective of the legal requirements, whenever the activity involves the use of biological agents (microorganisms, cell lines, tissue or fluid samples, insects, plants, animals, pests, GMOs, biotoxins, etc.) and is conducted at facilities belonging to the UAB or to external organisations attached to the IBC.
