For the Solidarity Autonomous Foundation (FAS), volunteering is a tool for the social transformation of a world of inequality and lack of equal opportunities. With the participation in volunteer programmes, it's possible to find out about different realities of people in situations of vulnerability and to contribute to the improvement of their situations. Last year, more than 550 people were involved in a volunteer program, and they were able to help 4,000 people who find themselves at risk of social exclusion and who can benefit from the help of the volunteers.

Learning and personal growth are common factors that the students and UAB members who participated in a volunteer program usually highlight from their experience.

With the start of the second semester and the changes in timetables, the FAS has volunteering vacancies available.

Choose your volunteer programme!

Do you enjoy being around kids and think that education is a tool to fight against inequality? Then CROMA is your place! You can give educational and emotional support one or two afternoons a week to kids of schools around Vallès. There almost 90 students who already participate in this volunteer programme, but there are still 15 vacancies available.

Do you feel comfortable around teenagers? Do you like maths? Do you think there are other ways to learn? Join UniX, the teenagers school support programme in high schools in Rubí. 20 UAB students have already joined the programme during the first semester, but 7 more students are needed for the next few months.

The Public Health Programme accompanies children and elderly people who spend long periods of time in hospitals; for them the visit of someone new may brighten up their day. More than 50 students participated in this programme during the first semester. Starting on February, 16 people can join the programme, 8 at the Vall d’Hebron Hospital and 8 at Centre Fòrum (Barcelona).

If what you want to do is to volunteer in the UAB Campus, then you can join the action group Menja Just, the Health group or Nesting Boxes.

Go to the "Voluntariat" section of the FAS’s website and get information about the volunteering opportunities available. To join any of the programmes you can come by the office at the Plaça Cívica, you can send an email to fas.voluntariat@uab.cat or you can also fill this form. Then, they will give you information about the briefings of the programmes you are interested in. Use your free time to learn and change small things that will slowly become great.
