According to the Best Global Universities (BGU) ranking, published this week by the newspaper U.S. News, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona ranks 164th worldwide and moves up three points from last year's edition. It is the 67th university in Europe and the 2nd in Spain, behind the University of Barcelona.

The first positions in the worldwide ranking do not vary from last year. The top universities are Harvard, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Stanford University, all three located in the US.

The ranking is based on a set of indicators such as international research prestige, regional reputation, scientific publications, citations, conferences and level of international collaborations, among others.
