The UAB improves its position in the Times Higher Education ranking

Times Higher Education World University Rankings analyses more than one thousand universities worldwide. In this year's edition, the UAB improves its 2016 results in teaching, citations, industry income and international outlook, and occupies position 147.

The UAB ranks 147 in this year's edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It is up 16 positions from last year's 163. The university improves its position in aspects such as citations, international outlook, and teaching.

This year, the UAB once again improves in the number of citations per paper, an indicator of its research impact: the university obtains 89.5 points, far from the average of other universities analysed, which was 47 over 100. Moreover in this section, the UAB occupies position number 102 worldwide, nine points above its place last year.

The UAB also noticeably improves its position in the section of teaching quality, where the analysis focuses on the number of PhD programmes, academic reputation, and staff-to-student ratio. In this aspect the UAB obtains 43.3 points, and ranks 145 worldwide (up from 191 in last year's edition).

With regard to international outlook, the UAB attains 60.1 points and once again improves last year's results. In the other sections of the rankings, the UAB obtains 36.1 points in research, very similar to last year's results, and 42.1 points in industrial income.

The ranking has analysed a total of 1,102 universities thanks to the information gathered, analysed and verified by the Elsevier SCOPUS database.
