The nomination period for students to fill the vacancies of the Governing Council Boards is now open

The UAB Student Council has opened a nomination period to find new members of the UAB Governing Council Boards. The call, ending on 23 January 2017, is open to all students in the university community.
 
The Governing Council is the UAB’s supreme collegial governing body. It establishes the University’s strategic and programmatic lines, as well as the guidelines, regulations and procedures to apply those lines to teaching, research, human and economic resources and budget planning. Student involvement in this governing body is of paramount importance because, ultimately, the student candidates to the Boards are the only ones who can get students’ opinions across to the Governing Council.

There are eight different committees in the Governing Council Boards that currently have vacancies for students: 6 vacancies on the Students and Employability Committee; 2 more vacancies on the Economics and Services Committee, on the Academic Planning Committee and on the Doctorial Committee; 1 vacancy on the Research Committee; 2 vacancies on the Lecturer Assessment and Monitoring Committee; 4 vacancies on the International Relations and Language Policy Committee; and 1 more vacancy on the Knowledge and Strategy Committee.

Pursuant to the call’s requirements, personal motivation will be taken into account but experiences of previous student involvement will also be an advantage, such as having been a Senate member or a member of your faculty’s Student Council. After the selection of candidates, the UAB Student Council will put these students forward for the posts on the Governing Council.
