The UAB offers a new exhibition on the social challenges of the climate emergency, entitled "Emergència Climàtica: Un Repte Social Inevitable", by photographer Lucas Vallecillos. The exhibition will be on display at the UAB Exhibitions Hall from 10 April to 17 May. On Wednesday 17 April at 12:30 p.m., the exhibition will be presented by the photographer himself. The series of photographs on display were captured in a three-year period and offer a profound view on the climate emergency in Spain, with special attention put on Catalonia.

Imatge d'un ós borrosa

The exhibition presents 64 images, 8 posters and 9 multimedia elements that explain the causes of the climate crisis, its effects and socioeconomic consequences, as well as possible solutions. The project, which forms part of reaching the Sustainable Development Goals, invites visitors to reflect on the dimensions of the challenges society will have to face in the coming years.

Structured into four thematic blocks, the exhibition looks at the causes of the climate crisis, its devastating effects on biodiversity and ecosystems, as well as the social and economic impact it has on our society. It also presents mitigation and adaptation strategies, and highlights the need to change energetic, cultural, educational and consumption models.

The exhibition represents a unique opportunity to better understand how this climate emergency is affecting everyday life and the future of the planet, and to discover how we can contribute to finding sustainable and fair solutions for all.
