More International Day of Women and Girls in Science activities

On 15 February the Institute of Neuroscience has organised a Speed-Dating event to meet with neuroscientists and gender experts at the UAB. The faculties of Sciences and Biosciences inaugurated a mural in commemoration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
The Institute of Neuroscience offers activities all week long, during which the First Neuroscience Sessions will take place, an initiative led by the Spanish Neuroscience Society (SENC). On Thursday 15 February, UAB neuroscientists and gender experts will be participating in a Speed-Dating event, in which students from scientific master's degrees and PhD are welcome to register and take part.
All participants will have from 3 to 5 minutes to speak with different researchers and discover aspects such as their experiences, the importance of women in laboratories, finding time for work and family, research with female animal models, etc. The experts participating will be: África Flores, Cristina Gutiérres, Gemma Manich, Irene Bolea, Maria Josefa Sabrià, Maribel Ponferrada, Mercedes Unzeta, Noemí Robles, Olaya Fernández and Roser Nadal. The conclusions reached at the activity will be sent to SENC and to the UAB Observatory for Equality.
Another of the activities programmed this week took place on 12 February, in which PhD students Aina Calls, Alba Sánchez and Maria Puigdomènech from the research group Neuroregeneration and Plasticity offered a conference entitled "Women and Neuroscience", organised by the Institute of Neuroscience, with secondary school students from the La Ferreria Centre in Montcada i Reixach.
Mural and "Macro Photo Shoot" at the Faculties of Sciences and Biosciences
On 12 February, the faculties of Sciences and Biosciences inaugurated a commemorative mural for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The mural is located at the C3 corridor of Building C. With this mural, the two faculties aim to reaffirm their commitment with gender equality, specifically in the academic and scientific fields. On Thursday 15 February a large photo will be taken with all the women from the faculties wishing to participate, at 1 p.m. at the Plaça del Rellotge.
The UAB's Observatory for Equality commemorated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science with the projection of the film "Marie Curie"on 13 February, followed by a debate with Joana Gallego, Sara Moreno, María Teresa Paramio, Gemma García and Lydia Giménez.
