Aina Salvà combined her secondary school studies at the French Lycée in Barcelona with her passion for animals, music and sports. Her love of animals has made her want to study Veterinary Medicine at the UAB, where she wants to learn everything there is to know about animals and how to help them.

She sees herself abroad in a few years, working to preserve endangered species and continuing with her hobbies: singing and horses. During her stay at the UAB she wants to spend at least a semester abroad in France to discover other ways of studying to become a veterinarian and care for animals.

- What's your impression of the UAB and its campus?
The UAB seems like a huge university. The first time I came, I was a bit scared when I saw how big the campus was. But I do like that it's surrounded by nature and trees. I think it'll be nice to study here and concentrate on my studies.

- And why did you decide to study Veterinary Medicine?
I decided to study Veterinary Medicine because I've liked animals since I was small and every time I see a cat or dog, I stop and play with them. Later I began to ride horses and I loved that, too, and that is when I decided that I wanted to devote my life to caring for and protecting animals. It's my calling.

- What do you hope to learn in these studies?
I hope the degree will show me how to deal with animals, help them and understand their reactions, and prepare me for what I want to do professionally, which is preserve different animal species.

- Where do you see yourself professionally in the future?
I would like to focus professionally on the preservation of endangered species. I would especially like to travel the world and work to protect the species in danger of extinction.

- During your life as a university student, do you see yourself studying abroad?
I would like to go to France for a year to see if studying Veterinary Medicine is different there. I want something that will give me new experiences.

- How did you obtain such good marks?
You can get good marks if you work hard, listen in class, etc. because I think a lot of what you learn depends on if you listen to what the teacher says. And you should never give up on your hobbies or sports, because having something that helps you disconnect from work and studying is necessary.

- In addition to studying, what else would you like to do at university?
I would like to study and continue with music, because it is something I do since I was little and it would be great to combine the two. I also want to travel a lot and discover all the animals that exist, although that is impossible.

- Do you speak languages?
I speak four languages, French, English, Catalan and Spanish. I started going to the French Lycée in Barcelona when I was 3 years old and we always studied in four languages; that's how I learned them. My mother is French and that has helped me in learning the language.
