Conference for professors on "Food sovereignty in studies at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine”

The main objective of this activity is to promote knowledge of the different dimensions of the concept of food sovereignty and, at the same time, to provide theoretical tools to help introduce this topic to the academic curricula of the two Bachelor's degrees offered by the faculty. The activity forms part of the IDES teacher training programme and is aimed at professors and staff in training in the faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the UAB, other universities or people interested in the subject.
The programme for the conference will feature an initial block that consists of a conceptual presentation by professor Marta Soler, of the Applied Economics Department at the University of Seville, and a debate involving with the following invited VIP experts: Marta G. Rivera (SoPCI, University of Vic), Esther Comas (VSF-Justícia Alimentària Global) and Gustavo Duch (Revista Soberanía Alimentaria, Biodiversidad y Culturas).
The second block will start with a learning methods exchange session based on the experiences and upcoming challenges of Wagningen University (Netherlands) in relation to the inclusion of this topic in the academic curriculum by Leonardo van den Berg. Finally, there will be a seminar to discuss and design proposals for the introduction of food sovereignty in specific courses in the faculty.
The conference will be held on Friday 23rd of October at the faculty of Veterinary Medicine from 9.00 am to 2.30 pm. It is being organized in collaboration with the Fundació Autònoma Solidària and VSF – Justícia Alimentària Global, and with the support of Barcelona City Council.
