Andreu Domingo elected fellow of the Institute for Catalan Studies

The plenary session of the Institute for Catalan Studies held this past 16 November included the decision to incorporate seven new fellows, including Andreu Domingo, Vice Director of the UAB Centre for Demographic Studies, into the institute's philosophy and social sciences section.

The plenary session held by the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC) on 16 November included the decision to incorporate Andreu Domingo, Vice Director of the UAB Centre for Demographic Studies, as a new member of the institute's philosophy and social sciences section. The IEC decided to add seven new members to their sections of Philosophy and Social Sciences, Biological Sciences and Sciences and Technology.   

Andreu Domingo holds a PhD in sociology and is senior lecturer of the UAB Department of Geography, as well as Vice Director of the university's Centre for Demographic Studies. He specialises in population studies and has conducted research into the family sphere and marriage indexes. Recently, he has focused his studies on international migrations. He has published several papers in specialised journals, is author of the essay Descenso literario a los infiernos demográficos: distopía y población (Anagrama) and was awarded the Ciutat de Barcelona Prize 2014 for his work Catalunya al mirall de la immigració. Demografia i Identitat Nacional (L'Avenç).
