Oficina de sostenibilitat
We are driving the transition towards a more sustainable, resilient and climate-neutral UAB
The UAB Sustainability Office promotes environmental policies and the campus’s ecological transition, integrating sustainability into management, teaching and research. We work across all areas to reduce the University’s environmental impact and foster a culture of sustainability shared by the entire university community.
The Sustainability Office promotes initiatives and projects to move towards a more sustainable, resilient and climate-neutral UAB. Our work is structured around five main areas:
- Circular economy and waste
We promote the prevention, reuse and proper management of waste generated on campus, as well as the greening of public procurement and the responsible management of special and hazardous waste.
- Environmental quality
We work to conserve and improve the campus’s natural environment through renaturalisation initiatives, monitoring of flora and fauna, management of agroforestry areas, and the promotion of sustainable water resource use.
- Energy transition
We promote energy efficiency measures, renewable energy and decarbonisation to reduce environmental impact and move towards a more sustainable energy model.
- Mobility
We promote more sustainable, safe and accessible mobility by encouraging public transport, active mobility and better management of journeys to the campus.
- Outreach and cross-cutting integration
We promote environmental awareness and the integration of sustainability into teaching, research and university management, fostering collaboration between services, research groups and the university community.
