Chapter UAB Alumni UK inaugurated in London

On Wednesday 1 July, UAB Rector Javier Lafuente inaugurated in London the Chapter UAB Alumni United Kingdom (UK), a network promoting the exchange of professional experiences and contacts among Catalans living in London and the UK, and who have studied at the UAB. This new group joins another similar one, that of the Chapter UAB Alumni East Coast in New York, inaugurated three years ago.

On May 19, the Faculty of Sciences at the UAB held the Ciències Connecta 2026 Employability Day, an event focused on employability that brought together students, alumni, and representatives from various professional sectors. The session was opened by the Dean, Dr. Juan Jesús Donaire Benito, and included two roundtable discussions and a company fair throughout the morning.

Everything ready for the closing ceremony of the UAB Mentoring Programme 2025–2026

More than 150 mentoring pairs have taken part in the programme offered by the UAB to help students discover their abilities and boost their professional careers, with the support of alumni with professional experience. From October to the end of April, third- and fourth-year undergraduate students, as well as alumni in their first year after graduation, have been supported by mentors who have guided them in gaining a better understanding of the professional sector they wish to pursue and the career opportunities available to them.

"I’ve always liked having professors I could admire, and at UAB I found great professionals in the field of Criminology."

 

Marc Balcells holds a PhD in Criminal Justice from the City University of New York, is the director of the Criminology degree program at the UOC, and author of Arqueomafia: The Tomb Raiders (La Campana, 2025). He is a UAB Criminology Alumni, class of ’07.
