Exploring the Quantum Revolution at the UAB: Join the Q-UAB Days!
Description:
From 5 to 7 May the UAB Faculty of Science will host "Quantum Days at the UAB" (Q-UAB Days), an event organised as part of the United Nations' International Year of Quantum Science and Technology which will bring together renowned researchers and students to explore the latest advances and real-life applications of quantum science.
The event is co-organised by the UAB, the IMB-CNM and the ICMAB, in collaboration with researchers from the ICN2 and the IFAE. It is distributed into three sessions, each taking place from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Sala d'Actes of the Faculty of Science.
Each session will be dedicated to a specific area of quantum science and technology, in which the most recent developments and cutting-edge discoveries will be discussed: Quantum information and Detection on 5 May, Quantum Light and Matter on 6 May and Quantum Chips on 7 May. Each day will conclude with an interactive colloquium in which attendees will be able to engage with researchers, ask questions and discuss the future of quantum technologies.

Screening of the film "The Pride of the Yankees", by Sam Wood (1942)
Description:
The Pride of the Yankees (Sam Wood, 1942) is one of two films featured in the film series Hollyball: Sport, Perseverance, and the Value of Sacrifice. This biopic tells the story of Lou Gehrig, a renowned American baseball player who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Gehrig’s life story opens a series that explores how cinema has used baseball as a metaphor to reflect the values of American society. The film will be screened on Tuesday, May 6 at 12 PM in the UAB Cinema Room.

Awards ceremony for the best TFG with a gender perspective at the UAB
Description:
Next Tuesday 6 May the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona will celebrate the awards ceremony for the best Final Degree Projects (TFG) with a gender perspective for the 2023/24 academic year. The event will take place in the conference hall of the Rectorat building at 12 noon, and will bring together the authors of the awarded works, their families, faculty tutors and several academic authorities.
The awards, which this year reach their ninth edition, are convened annually by the Equality and Diversity Service of the UAB, with the support and funding of the Catalan Women's Institute. The main objective of this initiative is to encourage university research from a critical and inclusive perspective, promoting the incorporation of gender perspective in academic analysis and knowledge production.
The event will be chaired by UAB Secretary General Esther Zapater, and will serve to publicly recognise the effort and quality of the 30 award-winning projects, from different teaching centres and disciplines.

E-waste and sustainability: waste contradictions in a digital society
Description:
The "Crisi ecosocial, implicacions i reptes" series is formed by 6 conferences organised by lecturer Josep Espluga, in collaboration with the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology and the Fundació Autònoma Solidària. It is aimed at all members of the UAB community.
This sixth and final conference is entitled "E-waste and Sustainability: waste contradictions in a digital society" and will be given by Blanca Callén, lecturer of the UAB Department of Social Psychology. The conference will take place on 6 May at 1:00 p.m. at the Aula 13 of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology.

BioHub: Biosciences Future and Talent Forum
Description:
On 6 May at 3:00 p.m., the Faculty of Biosciences and the Faculty of Sciences will host a conference by Jordi Esqué, project coordinator and career counselor. In the conference, Esqué will talk about maximising the benefits of job portals and other job search resources, including Nexus. The session is organised by the Faculty of Biosciences and the UAB Employment Service with the aim of creating a space for connection between students, companies and institutions to facilitate contact with the professional world, establish links and explore various opportunities in the field of biosciences. To participate, prior registration is required.

7th UAB Teaching Innovation Conference
Description:
On 7 May the UAB 7th Teaching Innovation Conference will take place, with a conference by Idoia Fernández, president of the State Network of University Teaching, a round table on ChatGPT, and the awards ceremony for the 7th Teaching Excellence Award. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the conference hall of the Rectorat building and will continue in the afternoon in different areas of the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies.
