On 3, 4 and 5 June, the Association of Public Relations Researchers organises the 20th International Public Relations Research Congress, which will be hosted by the UAB. The 20th edition of this congress will take place at the Palau Macaya in Barcelona, with the title "Rebels with a Cause. Public Relations as an Agent of Change". The international event will bring together researchers and academics in the field of public relations to discuss advances in research and teaching in this discipline. The congress also provides an opportunity to project the promising future of public relations, analysing the subject from a perspective that is critical, transformative, and committed to the today's great social challenges.

The full programme, which can be found on the congress' official website, will include inaugural conferences, scientific communication panels, academic forums, social activities, and debate spaces around issues such as sustainability, disinformation, artificial intelligence, institutional communication, inclusion, and digital reputation.

Among the highlights will be the opening conference by Pep Martorell, artificial intelligence researcher and lecturer at the ESADE Business School, as well as several sessions dedicated to the impact of AI on public relations, communicative transparency, and new forms of digital citizen participation. The congress will also feature cultural and networking activities, such as a visit to the Chez Matisse exhibition at the CaixaForum Barcelona, or a visit to the former Estrella Damm beer factory.

The Scenic Arts Research Centre organises for 4 June at 11:00 a.m. an international symposium entitled Hands Across the City: Musicians and Handedness in Urban Contexts. The activity will take place in the Sala Tarotdequinze of the UAB Faculty of Arts & Humanities.

The symposium aims to investigate laterality through musicological, paedagogical and neuropsychological perspectives based on practice. Those interested can sign up on this online form. 

• Folk Songs for Inverted Guitar. Practice-based observations on playing guitar transcriptions ‘upside down’., by Danica Hobden, musician and researcher specialised in instrumental practice and laterality from the Hamburg University of Music and Drama.
• ‘Left-handed’ instrumental play in Germany – from an artistic, educational and academic perspective., by Laila Kirchner, musician and researcher from the Cologne Unviersity of Music and Dance.  
• Maybe YOU’RE Playing Backwards. Laterality, identity and the case for the idiodextrous brain., by Greg Gottlieb, researcher in art and musicology at the UAB.
• Flipping guitar. An essential analysis of historical and contemporary approaches to the classical guitar posture, by Francesca Naibo, guitarist, lecturer and researcher at Siena Jazz University. 
• "Introduction to the research project Music and City: places, institutions and encounters since the Industrial Revolution", by Francesc Cortès, lecturer in art and musicology at the UAB.

The Spring Concert will offer a broad and diverse musical journey, which will connect tradition, classicism and contemporaneity through works from different eras and styles.

The UAB Choir and Chamber Choir, directed by Poire Vallvé, will begin the concert with a trip to the Renaissance thanks to Con qué la lavaré, by Juan Vásquez, and will continue with a contemporary revision of the traditional Catalan melody La dama d’Aragó, with arrangements by Aran Monserdà and Helena Leiva. The choir will then move on to more contemporary languages ​​with Better Days, a choral adaptation of a modern metal piece, and with Entre el espanto y la ternura, a work by Beatriz Corona on verses by Silvio Rodríguez. The second part of the repertoire will include 20th century classics such as Over the Rainbow and Autumn Leaves, before delving into the jazz universe of Duke Ellington with a choral suite made up of emblematic pieces such as Take the “A” Train, Satin Doll, Lush Life, Things Ain’t What They Used to Be and Perdido.

The UAB Orchestra, conducted by Jesús Badia, will perform Franz Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 83, La Poule, from the ‘Paris’ symphonies. The work stands out for its combination of brilliance, elegance and expressive vitality. The orchestral programme will continue with Béla Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances, written from popular melodies collected by the Hungarian composer at the beginning of the 20th century. The concert will end with one of Astor Piazzolla’s most renowned tangos.

The concert will end with a joint performance by the UAB orchestra and choirs of the Kyrie from the Missa Alma Redemptoris Mater, an 18th-century work by the Montserrat monk Anselm Viola, considered one of the most outstanding figures of Catalan classicism.

In celebration of the UAB Bioconferences Week, the UAB Faculty of Biosciences is organising on 5 June at 12:00 noon a conference entitled “Climate Change and Meteorological Risks”. The event, which will take place in the conference hall of the UAB Faculty of Biosciences, aims to cover the growing impact of climate change on ecosystems, health, the economy, and society as a whole. The session will be given by Javier Martín, professor of physical geography at the University of Barcelona. Professor Martín will reflect on the main current climate challenges from a transversal and interdisciplinary perspective. The closing lecture will be given by Javier Lafuente, rector of the UAB.

UAB Rector Javier Lafuente; Vice-Rector for Studies and Quality Ramon Vilanova; and Faculty of Law Dean Ricard Esteban, will open the teaching quality conference organised by the UAB on 11 June, from 9:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law. After the welcome address, Vice-Rector Vilanova will present a report on the topic and, subsequently, Mercè Gisbert, director of the Agency for Quality Assessment of the Catalan University System (AQU Catalunya), will deliver a lecture on teaching quality surveys.

After a break, at 12 noon, the second part of the session will take place, in which different examples of experiences and good practices in the management of teaching quality surveys will be presented. Speakers will include Anna Fajula, vice-dean for Academic Staff, Quality and Teaching Innovation and Alfons González, deputy vice-dean for Academic Staff, Quality and Teaching Innovation, from the Faculty of Communication Studies; Marilisa Birello, vice-dean for Quality, Innovation and Postgraduate Programmes from the Faculty of Education; Elisenda Alonso, quality manager of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; and Albert Quintana, deputy dean for Quality and Strategic Planning of the Faculty of Biosciences.
