Can science and technology help improve the functioning of politics?
Description:
The Seminaris a l’Abast series is a dynamic and participatory training space where current topics of interest are discussed. The series includes eight 2-hour sessions, independent of each other, with a total duration of 16 hours. Registration can be made for the entire series or for individual sessions, virtually or in person.
On 20 May, the conference “Can science and technology help improve the functioning of politics?” will take place, which will reflect on the role of scientific and technological knowledge in political decision-making and in strengthening contemporary democracies. The event will feature the participation of Joan Subirats, professor emeritus of political science at the UAB and former minister for universities.

CROMA 2.0 Programme participants visit the UAB
Description:
The children from CROMA 2.0 will visit the UAB facilities. During the morning, the results of the research projects will be presented, they will tour the university facilities, and they will take part in a scavenger hunt organised by UAB students.
CROMA 2.0 is a socio-educational programme promoted by the Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS) which aims to ensure that children at risk of social exclusion continue their education. This academic year, 200 children from 19 schools in the Vallès Occidental region participated, accompanied by 33 UAB students.

Migrant mobilities: current situation, learning opportunities and research objectives
Description:
The Migration and Ethnic Minority Studies Group and the Migration Research Centre of the UAB are organising on 21 May at 11:00 a.m. a seminar session entitled "Migrant mobilities: current situation, learning opportunities and research objectives". The seminar will take place in the boardroom of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the UAB.
The programme will include the session “Income generation activities, networks and migrant specialties: analytical and methodological discoveries from the mobility approach”, given by Daisy Margarit, lecturer at the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of Santiago de Chile. There will also be a talk on “Participatory cinema and audiovisual methodologies to explore the re-territorialisation and daily life of Venezuelan women in Iquique and Alto Hospicio (Chile)”, given by Consuelo González, researcher at the National Agency for Research and Development.

SAF-days to celebrate SAF's 40th anniversary
Description:
The UAB Physical Activity Service (SAF) organises for 26, 27 and 28 May the 40th Anniversary SAF-Days (you can consult the schedules and activities in the previous link). The event, which will take place at the SAF facilities, aims to celebrate four decades of sports, health and community at the UAB. The activity will be open to both members and non-members, with members having the opportunity to book exclusive sessions, as usual, 48 hours before.
The programme includes different guided activities such as tono-step, zumba, aquacross, toning and paddle tennis in pairs, with the aim of enjoying sports through proposals that adapt to different preferences. Once the special sessions are over, the anniversary will close with a special schedule of sports sessions and awards starting on 26 May and culminating on 28 May with the activities "An evening to take care of ourselves: 40 years of health at the UAB campus".

Religion in caricature: populism and artistic freedom
Description:
The Research in Sociology of Religion (ISOR) group of the UAB organises a new session of the ISOR seminar entitled " Religion in caricature: populism and artistic freedom". The activity will address the relationship between the satirical representation of religion, populism and the limits of artistic freedom and expression in today's societies.
The session will be led by Daniel Gamper, lecturer in moral philosophy at the UAB. Gamper will reflect on the tensions between religious sensitivity, public debate and contemporary artistic creation.

The Cultural Centre will host a conference on forest management, led by Professor Xavier Gabarrell Durany. Dr. Gabarrell is a professor of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, researcher at the ICTA-UAB, and Vice-Rector for Campus and Sustainability at UAB. He specialises in sustainability, circular economy, urban agriculture and waste management, and has an extensive academic and research background. The conference will provide an informative overview of the main challenges and opportunities related to sustainable forest management, focusing on environmental preservation and sustainability strategies. The activity is open to the public, professionals and anyone interested in environmental issues.
