Book presentation: the Sixena paintings
Description:
The Faculty of ARts & Humanities of the UAB is organising on 27 May at 1:00 p.m. the presentation of the book Les Pintures de Sixena. Un foc que enca crema. The activity will take place in the Periodicals Room of the UAB Humanities Library.
The work of Albert Velasco, lecturer in History at the University of Lleida, offers an immersive journey to learn about the origins of the National Art Museum of Catalonia through one of the most important paintings in Europe from the end of the Romanesque period, between the 12th and 13th centuries. The event will begin with an opening speech by Carles Sànchez, vice-dean of Communication at the Faculty of Arts & Humanities of the UAB. There will also be a round table discussion with Velasco, Sànchez and Jesús Brufal, lecturer in Ancient and Medieval Sciences at the UAB.

39th General Assembly of the EAEVE
Description:
On 28 and 29 May the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education organises the 39th EAEVE Assembly. The event will take place at the UAB Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The assembly brings together academics, professionals and institutions linked to European veterinary training with the aim of debating and exchanging knowledge on the main challenges in education in the field. This year's edition will also serve to address the processes of teaching innovation, academic quality, international accreditation, and the transformation of veterinary professional practice.
The day will begin with a welcome speech by Ramon Vilanova, UAB Vice-Rector for Studies and Quality, in the conference hall of the Rectorat building. It will also include plenary sessions, institutional work spaces, presentations of innovative initiatives, and activities aimed at fostering collaboration between faculties and European organisations. Issues related to sustainability, global health, animal welfare and the impact of new technologies on veterinary training will also be addressed.

9th IET Conference: ageing and work. Challenges and transformation in the labour market
Description:
The Institute of Labour Studies will hold the ninth IET conference, entitled "Envelliment i treball. Reptes i transformacions en el mercat laboral" ["Ageing and Work. Challenges and Transformations in the Labour Market"] on 29 May at 9:30 a.m. The activity will take place in the plenary hall of the Labour, Economic and Social Council of Catalonia (CTESC). The conference is free and open to the public with prior registration.
The conference will be dedicated to analysing the social, economic and labour impacts of current demographic changes. It will bring together researchers, professionals and representatives of social entities to reflect on the main challenges linked to the ageing of the population and its consequences on the labour market. The conference will focus on issues such as ageism, inequalities affecting older workers, the sustainability of pension systems, the extension of working lives, and the role of public policies in the current demographic transition.
The programme includes an opening session with a presentation by Alejandra Chulián, lecturer in psychology at the Universidad a Distància de Madrid, moderated by Óscar Molina, director of the Institute of Labour Studies. Subsequently, two round tables will be held. The first, focused on the labour market and ageing, will feature the participation of David Luque, lecturer in sociology at the University of Oviedo, and Riccardo Dalla, lecturer in sociology at the Open University of Catalonia, moderated by Mireia Bolíbar, lecturer in sociology at the UAB. The second table will address policies and experiences at the local level related to ageing and work, with the participation of Lourdes Charles, member of the Somseniors association, and Laia Sánchez, member of the Citilab Cornellà laboratory. The table will be moderated by Joan Rodríguez, lecturer in sociology at the UAB.

Scientific and practical conferences on reintegration

On 1, 2 and 3 June the UAB will host the scientific and practical conferences on social reintegration, a space for transmitting research on desistance and reintegration and for making visible policies and practices aimed at reintegration. The meeting also aims to generate a space for reflection and debate on the challenges faced by the penitentiary system and re-entry programmes. It is aimed at professionals from prison administrations and juvenile justice and from foundations and third sector entities working in the field of reintegration, as well as researchers interested in desistance and reintegration. The first day will be held at the Palau Macaya in Barcelona; on the second day, the conferences will continue in the Aula Magna, and on the third day in the Boardroom of the UAB Faculty of Law. The conferences are organised by the Research Group on Crime Desistance and Reintegration Policies of the UAB, by the research project "Third degree, parole and reintegration", funded by the Spanish Research Agency (PID2022-140171NB-I00), the Justice and Society Centre of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and the Foundation for Applied Research in Crime and Security (FIADYS).

Thinking in the Trenches: revolutionary intellectuals from 1914 to the Spanish Civil War
Description:
The Dictatorships and Democracies Research Group (GREDD) of the UAB organises for 2 June at 4:00 p.m. a new session of the GREDD seminar entitled "Thinking in the Trenches: revolutionary intellectuals from 1914 to the Spanish Civil War". The activity will take place at the conference hall of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities and will focus on the analysis of the political and cultural commitment of revolutionary intellectuals in times of war and social transformations.
The seminar will be led by Juan Andrade, lecturer in History at the Complutense University of Madrid. Andrade will reflect on the relationship between revolutionary thought, the experience of war, and the construction of political projects during the period between the First World War and the Spanish Civil War.
