Official Master's Degree in Conference Interpreting

This Master's degree is biannual and will not receive applications for the 2019-2020 academic year.

The UAB-specific Master's Degree in Conference Interpreting (MUIC) prepares you to become a professional interpreter specialised in conference interpreting, capable of working in national and international multilingual environments. This is the country's first two-year master's degree in conference interpreting worth 120 credits. It allows students to acquire professional skills gradually within an academic setting, and also offers regular and direct contact with the reality of the profession.
The MUIC offers the possibility of taking the course in two or three foreign languages, in addition to one's mother tongue, and includes the following language combinations:
  • Spanish or English as your A Language (native)
  • English, French, German or Spanish as your C Language
Students who choose Spanish as their A Language must enroll in at least two C Languages, one of them English. Students with English as their A Language must  enroll in at least two C Languages, one of them Spanish.
The MUIC receives support from the European Commission's Common Conference Interpreting Services, the General Direction of Conference Interpreting of the European Parliament, which offer the master's degree's students teaching assistance, periodic online classes and a study visit to Brussels including an interpreting internship at European institutions.
At the same time, the MUIC holds an agreement with the Association of Interpreters of Barcelona (AIB) through which its students can participate in a mentoring programme and receive guidance by professional interpreters throughout the training programe.
