On March 13, Marc Bataller, Secretary of the Media and Diffusion of the Generalitat de Catalunya and former student of the Faculty presented the conference “How to manage a crisis? Institutional communication and protocol". In this session, she shared her extensive professional experience and explored various theoretical and practical elements of crisis management and institutional communication.

Bataller began his exhibition with a reflection on the last years of his career, highlighting the importance of the claim "always forward" of the Catalan Government and presenting the shocking campaign of fire prevention F*C OFF.

The main focus of the presentation was mainly on managing the COVID-19 crisis, highlighting the importance of establishing a strategic communication plan that includes an exhaustive analysis of the situation, the clear definition of the target audience and the preparation of the strategies and tools necessary to constantly monitor the evolution of perceptions. Likewise, the need to be flexible and adjust communication according to changes in public perceptions was underlined.

During the conference, Bataller illustrated theoretical concepts with real anecdotes and experiences, reiterating the principle of "always face" in institutional communication. At the end of the session, he expressed his gratitude to Dr. Josep Maria Blanco Pont, who was his reference professor during his years of study at the Faculty.

Finally, from the Faculty of Communication Sciences, we would like to express our gratitude to Marc Bataller for sharing his experience and knowledge with the academic community. His conference was a valuable opportunity for our students and faculty members to learn first-hand about crisis management and institutional communication in a context as relevant as the one we are currently experiencing.
