"Multakana" means meeting space in Arabic: training forum at the UAB

On March 30 and 31, the UAB will be hosting "Multakana - Youth voices for Peace 2023", a meeting and training space for young activists for peace-building in Catalonia and the Middle East. The event is being organised at the proposal of the Fundació Autònoma Solidària in association with NOVACT and the Kudwa Association.

Multakana – مُلْتَقانا  Youth voices for Peace 2023 is a proposal addressed at young activists with an interest in peace-building, social change and human rights both in the Middle East and for residents in Catalonia, which includes an online learning space and a face-to-face forum at the UAB.

In March, the participants will be taking training modules on armed conflicts and climate change, participation for change, self-organization from diaspora, gender inequality and sexual violence, and the perspective of care in activism. These capsules will be online and available on YouTube.

The second part of “Multakana – مُلْتَقانا  Youth voices for Peace 2023 will be a training forum on March 30 and 31 at the UAB. The forum will bring together young people from different contexts interested in peace-building and non-violence, and will approach activism from an intercultural perspective, focusing on processes of resilience, solidarity and defence of rights that young people from different regions have set in motion.

With the support of the Catalan Development Cooperation Agency, a call has been announced to fund the stay and participation of two young activists from the region of Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan in Barcelona during the week of the forum. As set forth in the terms and conditions of the call, until February 26 anyone interested can submit their applications on the registration form and send a brief video with a personal description. The registration period for the “Multakana – مُلْتَقانا Youth voices for Peace 2023” training sessions and forum for anyone interested who lives in Catalonia is also open and registrations can be made on this form.

This activity is part of the project “ASÎTÎ: Fostering the role of internally displaced young women and refugees from the long-term conflicts in Syria and the KRI and of young people from the host communities of Jordan and Catalonia in peace-building and the consolidation of democracy and human rights in the Middle East”, financed by the ACCD, coordinated together with NOVACT, the Fundació Autònoma Solidària and the Kudwa Association.
