Next Friday, May 22, the sixth seminar of the Geography and Gender Research Group of this academic year will take place.
“Geography of Feminist Memory in the Farmhouses of a Historic Cross-Border Region between Castellón, Tarragona and Teruel”
Delivered by Núria Salvador, geographer and PhD candidate in gender geography, rural and mountain studies at the University of Valencia.
The seminar will address the construction of memory from a feminist perspective in rural mountain contexts, focusing on the masovero societies of the Maestrazgo region. Using an approach that combines memory geography with rural and gender studies, it will analyse forms of social organisation, silenced narratives, and the specific characteristics of these territories. The session will reflect on how power relations, forms of community life, and productive and reproductive practices have shaped differentiated gender models, as well as on the role of memory in the construction of collective identities in these spaces.
The activity is linked to the Doctoral Program in Geography and the Doctoral Program in Gender Studies: Cultures, Societies and Policies.
